ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
FOR THE ERDÉ 153 TRAILER
NB : All detail numbers below refer to the assembly diagram on the facing page. The parts
reference letters are also shown on the diagram, to show where they are fitted.
A - ASSEMBLY OF THE CHASSIS
Turn the trailer base panel upside down and place on two trestles or a table and follow these
instructions. Do not tighten all the bolts (unless instructed) until all these elements are
assembled (axle, drawbar, drawbar guide and light clusters). This ensures that when you
finally tighten all bolts/screws, there is a better overall fit.
1 - Fit the tipping hook (3)
to the base of the trailer (1)
2 - Fit the axle support
reinforcing bars (R1 and R2), under the base ledge, as shown in the
diagram.
Caution : there is a left support and right support
.
ATTENTION : to fit the left and right hand bars, all the holes must coincide (holes
underneath and to the side).
3 - Mount the axle as per (2)
, onto the base of the trailer (1), hubs facing towards the back of
the trailer (the bolts/non-slip washers screw down onto nuts already held into position on the
axle support reinforcing bars)
4 - Assemble the drawbar
(partly assembled already)
Unscrew and take out the bolt HM 10x90 and spread the draw bar arms (4 + 5) between the
axle supports (2). Bolt firmly in place. Rescrew the bolt HM 10x90 already in place and spacer
5 - Assembly of the light cluster (7) - p
lease note the position of the two holes (1) must
be towards the top.
6 -
Unroll the lighting cable
(8) and clip it to the central support (9).
Tie it to the drawbar,
using the clips. Connect the « yellow plug » of the cable to the yellow side and the « green
plug » to the green side.
Attention in connecting the lights, make sure that the small male lug
is fitted in the notch of the female plug.
7 - Fit the drawbar A frame support (6),
between the drawbar arms (4 + 5)
Please note : face the flat side with tipping latch (already fitted) towards the top of the A.
Before securing firmly, ensure that the A frame support lines up with the base chassis, and
adjust if required.
TIGHTEN ALL THE BOLTS/SCREWS FITTED SO FAR
8 - Fit the wheels
(valves must be on the outside when fitting)
VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE ENSURE "DOMED" END OF WHEEL NUTS FACES
INWARDS I.E. AGAINST THE WHEEL (H).
For the following assembly operations, turn the trailer onto its wheels
.
B - ASSEMBLY OF THE SIDE PANELS
1 - Fit the two side panels (13)
to the trailer base
(1)
Secure to the back the light cluster box (7) to the side panel support posts (
I
)
2 - Fit the side bumpers (14)
and the hinge plates (15) as per the diagram "O". Both hinge
plates pins must face in the same direction. The smaller bumpers fit to the rear half of the trailer
ATTENTION : Please ensure you use one hinge plate with hole and one without, for the front
PANEL fitting, and the same for the back PANEL fitting.
3 - Fit the front and rear panels
, by slipping the panels onto the base hinges and secure into
place using the cotter pin to lock into position
Fix the chain hooks (18) to the rear panel (16)
4
-
Fix the mudguards (12) onto the side panels (13)
and to the chassis (1) and tighten all
screws
DOUBLE CHECK ALL SCREWS AND BOLTS TO ENSURE FULLY TIGHTENED. It is
important to have the tipping latch firmly in position. Small alterations in tension are
possible by turning the latch ring clockwise or anteclockwise - fit the safety pin, once
firmly latched.
VERY IMPORTANT:
IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT WHEEL NUTS ARE SECURE AND TIGHT
SAFETY - Please be safety conscious at ALL TIMES :
* in the trailer assembly
* in towing the trailer
* by regular maintenance checks
* by never exceeding maximum load capacities
* by driving slowly over road humps
