5. Always wear hearing protection during extended periods of operation. Following
this rule will reduce the risk of serious personal injury.
6. Keep your hands away from cutting area. Do not reach under the material being cut
because the nearness of the blade to your hand is hidden from your sight.
7. Do not use dull or damaged blades. Bent blades can break easily, or cause kickback.
8. Remove the plug from the socket before carrying out any adjustment, servicing or
maintenance.
9. When an extension cable is required you must ensure it has the correct ampere rating for
your power tool and is in a safe electrical condition. And please fully unwind cable drum
extensions to avoid potential overheating.
10. Ensure your mains supply voltage is the same as indicated on the rating plate.
11. Your tool is double insulated for additional protection against a possible electrical insulation
failure within the tool.
12. Always check walls, floors and ceilings to avoid hidden power cables and pipes.
13. Before cutting, check the cutting line is free of nails, screws, etc. Check hidden power

17. If possible, ensure the work-piece is firmly clamped to prevent movement.
18. Never stop the cutting blade by applying side pressure to the blade.

The updated Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1st October 2012 now
also targets to reduce the risks associated with silica, wood and gypsum dusts.
Construction workers are one of the at-risk groups within this because of the dust that they
breathe: silica dust is not just a nuisance; it is a real risk to your lungs!
Silica is a natural mineral present in large amounts in things like sand, sandstone and granite. It
is also commonly found in many construction materials such as concrete and mortar. The silica
is broken into very fine dust (also known as Respirable Crystalline Silica or RCS) during many
common tasks such as cutting, drilling and grinding
Breathing in very fine particles of crystalline silica can lead to the development of:
Lung cancer
Silicosis
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD))
And breathing in fine particles of wood dust can lead to the development of Asthma
The risk of lung disease is linked to people who regularly breathe construction dust over a
period of time, not on the odd occasion.
