3.1.6 Installing and Removing the
Ribbon Cassette
Installing the ribbon cassette
(1) Turn on the printer and open the printer cover.
(2) Turn the ribbon cassette's feed knob two or three times
in the
➡
direction, to take up any slack in the ribbon.

(3) Insert the ribbon cassette in the printer (see Figure 3-
12) and rotate the cassette's feed knob five or six more
times (see Figure 3-11). This is necessary to place the
ribbon in the correct position.
Notes:
• Make sure that the ribbon is installed between the print
head and mask plate (see Figure 3-13) without wrinkles
or creases.
• Never turn the ribbon cassette's feed knob in the oppo-
site direction of the arrow marked on the cassette.

Printer Operation
Switches to cut sheet mode and
waits for a cut sheet to be loaded,
according to the time set by the
ESC f t1 t2 command. The VALI-
DATION/SLIP LED blinks.
Detects the cut sheet and turns on
the VALIDATION/SLIP LED.
When using slip paper, detects the
slip after the set time (
t2) has
passed. If the slip is not detected,
re-enters the slip waiting state.
When the slip paper is detected,
feeds the slip as far as the print start
position; then redetects the slip and
waits for the print data. If the slip is
not detected after feeding the pa-
per, re-enters the slip waiting state.
When using validation paper, de-
tects the paper after the set time
(
t2) has passed. If the paper is not
detected, re-enters the validation
paper waiting state. When the vali-
dation paper is detected, waits for
the print data.
If no cut sheet is inserted within the
set time (
t1), switches from cut sheet
mode to paper roll mode automati-
cally.
Prints data and feeds the paper.
After the printing, ejects the paper
and selects paper roll mode. Turns
off the VALIDATION/SLIP LED.
