Switch Black Ink Type
Your product comes with Matte Black and Photo Black ink cartridges. Although both cartridges must be
installed for your product to work, it can print using only one type of black ink at a time.
You can switch the black ink type, depending on the type of media you load. This process consumes
some ink, so you should avoid switching black ink more often than necessary and select a default black
ink type for the type of media you print on most often.
Note:
To enable automatic black ink switching when the black ink type setting in the printer and printer
software are different, press the
Menu
button and select
Printer Setup

Switching the black ink type takes several minutes and consumes some ink. Check the black ink type
media list to select the correct ink type for the media you loaded.
1.
Press the
Black
ink/maintenance button.
2.
Press the down arrow button to select
Change Black Ink
and press the right arrow button.
3.
Press the
OK
button to switch black inks.
The printer charges the black ink for a few minutes:
• Photo Black to Matte Black: about 2 minutes.
• Matte Black to Photo Black: about 4 minutes.
