PRELIMINARy PHASES FOR USE
Using the appliance for the first time
check that the voltage of the domestic network is the same as that indicated on the technical
information plate of the appliance. then place the machine on a flat surface, away from water
taps and sinks.
insert the plug into the socket, which must be earthed.
HOW tO MAKE COFFEE
if it is the first time the appliance is turned on, or if it has not been used for some time, let at
least one cup of coffee come out first. Wash and dry the carafe and all accessories. do not wash
the boiler or power supply base.
make sure the machine is cold. unscrew the machine by holding the carafe (c) with one hand
and by turning the boiler (G) clockwise with the other. remove the funnel filter (F) and fill the
boiler with water until the safety valve (L) seen inside the boiler is reached (Fig. 2). do not go
past the safety valve.

pay utmost attention so that the water does not dampen the exterior of the boiler. pre-
vent infiltrations of water inside electrical parts.
never fill the boiler with hot or boiling water.
do not use the coffee maker with barley coffee.
put the funnel filter (F) inside the boiler (G). Fill the funnel filter with ground coffee without
pressing it. Fill it a bit at a time to prevent the ground coffee from spilling over. evenly distribute
the coffee and remove any excess ground coffee from the edge of the filter.
use good quality medium ground coffee packaged for espresso coffee machines.
screw the machine by holding the carafe (c) with one hand and by turning the boiler (G) coun-
terclockwise with the other.
if too much ground coffee is put inside the funnel filter (F), it might be difficult to tighten the
boiler (G) on the carafe (c). there may be leaks from the boiler while coffee is being dispensed.
the coffee might not come out correctly.
