TRI VOLTAGE
All Engel fridge/freezers (excluding
MD14E chest & SB47 upright) have
an inbuilt tri voltage (12/24/240v)
power supply which allows you to
operate from either car accessory
sockets or mains power without the
need for an adaptor.
Although Engel has the lowest power
consumption of any portable
fridge/freezer on the market, operating
for extended periods off your car
battery could lead to a flat battery.
Therefore alternate power sources may
be sought. If you are on the move,
careful management of your battery
power can allow you to successfully
enjoy a holiday with one battery.
Options for reserve power include dual
battery systems, Engel Battpaks, solar
panels or a generator.
DUAL BATTERY SYSTEM
This is the most common system for
back-up power for your Engel.
Usually a deep cycle secondary
battery is fitted that will give hours of
running time when your vehicle is not
in use. This allows your primary
battery to remain fully charged. The
systems available now are generally
fully automatic so as soon as you start
your engine the secondary battery
begins to charge.
ENGEL BATTPAKS
These products are relatively new to
the market and provide a portable
convenience to power your Engel.
Generally the power supply will not
last as long as a deep cycle battery
fitted to a dual battery system.
However they can be charged through
your cars accessories socket the
following day whilst driving. The Engel
Battpak gives you additional battery
power and is ideal for people who
don’t want to invest in a dual battery
system.
GENERATOR
When you want to stay indefinitely in
the one spot it is best to invest in a
portable generator or a solar panel
system. Because Engel fridge/freezers
have such minimal power
consumption even a small generator
will do the job. And now most of these
generators are whisper quiet and will
not annoy the neighbours.
