5.4 Hardware configuration
Two jumpers on the I/O board provide the means of activating or deactivating hardware write pro-
tection and simulation mode.

Warning!
• Risk of electric shock. Exposed components carry dangerous voltages. Make sure that the power
supply is switched off before you remove the cover of the electronics compartment.
• Wait at least 10 minutes for heat to dissipate before opening an Ex-rated device.
1. Switch off power supply.
2. Remove the I/O board

3. Configure hardware write protection and simulation mode appropriately using the jumpers
(Fig. 23).
4. Installation of the I/O board is the reverse of the removal procedure.

1 Jumper for hardware write protection:
1.1 Disabled (factory default) = access to device parameters via FF interface is possible
1.2 Enabled = access to device parameters via FF interface is not possible
2 Jumper for simulation mode:
2.1 Enabled (factory default) = simulation in the Analog Input Function Block and in the Discrete Output Function
Block is possible
2.2 Disabled = simulation in the Analog Input Function Block and in the Discrete Output Function Block is not possible
