Diagram A
1. Decide on the position of the light fitting / or remove existing
light fitting. Take a note of the position of the electrical
connections. Ensure there is a solid mounting surface,
preferably a wooden joist or joist bridge to support the weight of
the light fitting.
2. See
Diagram A
. Remove the fixing bracket (2), by undoing the
2 side screws (1), retain these for re-use.
3. Use the fixing bracket (2) as a template to mark the screw
holes, mark the screw holes and secure to the ceiling with the
screws (3) supplied.
4.
Diagram B
. Support your fitting and connect the house wiring
to the terminal block (4) – see also WIRING DETAILS
. NOTE:
This is a Class I fitting and
must be earthed
. The 4
th
terminal
block connector is used for the “loop” wires of the “Ring Circuit”.
There may be more than one set of cables in the “loop”
connections.
If there is a “Ring Circuit” and you do not
understand the connections you must consult an
electrician
. Any loose terminal blocks – not secured to the
ceiling cup – should always be covered with 2 layers of good
quality insulation tape. Secure the fitting back onto the fixing
bracket with the 2 side screws (1), removed in 2 above. Make
sure that all the internal cables and connections are inside the
ceiling cup taking care not to trap or strain the internal cables
and that any excess support cable wires do not touch the
terminal connections.
5.
Diagram C
. Place the decorative chrome inner caps (5) onto
the T5 Fluorescent tube (6) and then fit the tube into the lamp
holders.
NOTE- to fit the tube, make sure the 2 x slots in the
lamp holders are vertical, then insert the pins, at both ends
of the tube, into the slots and gently rotate the tube 90°
until the slots lock onto the pins.
Slide the inner caps (5)
down the tube and fit them over the lamp holders.
NOTE:
Never fit bulbs of a higher wattage than those specified on
the label (as these may cause overheating and damage the
fitting).
6. Screw
one
of the decorative end caps (8) onto the unit. Place
one end of the glass cover (7) over the tube (6) and plate (9) at
the opposite end. Slide it along the tube/plate until it clears the
lamp holder with fitted end cap then move it back until it is
seated on the fitted end cap. Screw the second end cap (8) into
position such that the glass cover is now held with both end
caps.
7. Turn on the power and test.
