Administration
Note the following:
•
After a warm start:
-
If the Model 3711 is initialized from SRAM, databases and FSTs remain as they were
before the warm start. The FST will resume processing from the point at which it stopped.
-
If the Model 3711 is initialized from flash memory, FSTs are loaded from flash memory,
and the history, event, and alarm logs remain as they were before the warm start. This is
the equivalent of a basic cold start.
•
Use a cold start if the Model 3711 is performing erratically, if memory appears to be
corrupted, or if you need to reset the unit to a configuration other than the one in flash memory.
•
A cold start may cause output changes, load new accumulator values, and disable user
program tasks. In general, do not perform a cold start on a Model 3711 that is actively
gathering data or performing control functions.
•
Before performing a cold start, save or document all required data and parameter values that
could be affected by the cold start.
•
After a cold start, FST registers, including the run flag, are restored from flash memory. If the
FST was active when flash memory was saved, the FST will be activated.
14.3
Model 3711 memory structure
Figure 14-2 illustrates the major sections of Model 3711 memory. Configuration data can be stored to
SRAM, to flash memory, or to both. The Model 3711 can be initialized from:
•
User configuration data stored in SRAM
•
User configuration data stored in flash memory
•
A default configuration set stored in flash memory
For operation, the Model 3711 uses the user confiuration data stored in SRAM. If the initialization
process loads configuration data from flash memory, the user configuration data in SRAM is
overwritten during initialization. Section 14.2.2 describes the different options for initializing the
Model 3711, and what configuration data is used for each option.
If a change is made to the current configuration in ROCLINK 800, and that change is applied, the
configuration data in SRAM is updated. However, the configuration data stored in flash memory is
not updated, and the configuration file on the PC is not updated. If a cold start is performed, the
Model 3711 will be initialized with the unmodified configuration data.
•
To update the configuration data in flash memory, click
Device > Flags > Save
Configuration
.
•
To update the configuration file on the PC, click
File > Save Configuration
.
