Configuring and Managing Virtual Tape Libraries
Select an intended use for the tape drives:

Backup Application Specific - when selected, the tape drive will
be used as a backup application specific server. The settings
depend on the backup application that you use.

Remove - removes the tape drive from the DL3D 3000
configuration.
CAUTION
!
The tape drive MUST be physically disconnected or removed
from the DL3D before it can be removed from the
configuration.
◆
Ignore - when selected, the system will ignore this tape drive.
Configuring backup application-specific users
You must specify a backup application specific username and
password for the backup software so that it can log in to the DL3D
1500/3000 and use the Path-to-Tape feature. To configure backup
application specific users:
1. Discover attached physical devices. See “Discovering physical
devices” on page 77 . Change the intended use to backup
application specific usage.
2. Access and view backup application specific users. See
“Accessing and viewing backup application-specific users” on
page 79
.
3. Add a backup application specific user. See “Adding a backup
application specific user” on page 80 .
Accessing and viewing backup application-specific users
Use the Backup Application Specific page to configure the backup
application specific user configuration settings.
To access the Backup Application Specific page, on the
Configuration
page, click Backup Application Specific. The Backup
Application Specific User Configuration page appears.
