Using Maintenance Features
Setting the Online State
Use the procedure in this section to display the current director
operating state (on line or off line) and change the state as required.
Refer to Director Operational States on page 1-17 for more information
on the operating states.
CAUTION
!
Before setting the director off line, warn administrators and users
currently operating devices that are attached to the director that it is
going off line and that there will be a disruption of
communications. Make sure the administrators of all attached
devices quiese Fibre Channel traffic through the director.
Follow these steps to set the director on line or off line:
1. Display the Set Online State window (Figure 7-2) from the
Hardware view by one of these methods:
• Click Maintenance on the Product Manager menu bar and
select Set Online State on the drop-down menu.
• Right-click on the director and click Set Switch Online State
on the pop-up menu.

2. Click Set Offline/Online.
3. When a warning box requests you to confirm, click OK.
As the director goes off line,
OFFLINE
appears in the State field of the
ED-64M Status table in the Hardware view. LED indicators on all
ports with attached devices stay green, but the director is sending
off-line sequences (OLS) to these devices.
