Connectrix EC-1100 System User Guide
Upgrading to a Single Service Processor Environment
Consolidating Service Processors
This section describes configuration of one service processor as a
Connectrix Manager server that manages all ED-1032s in a fabric, and
configuration of the remaining service processors as both clients and
backups. Consolidation of service processors is desired because it is
easier to manage multiple ED-1032s in a fabric from a single
Connectrix Manager server.
As a prerequisite to performing this procedure, all affected service
processors must be upgraded to Version 2.0 of the EMC Connectrix
Manager application, and all affected ED-1032s must be upgraded to
firmware Version 2.0.
Version 2.0 of the EMC Connectrix Manager application supports the
management of eight ED-1032s per service processor, and supports a
multiswitch fabric of four ED-1032s. A service processor can manage
eight single ED-1032s, two fabrics with four ED-1032s per fabric, four
fabrics with two ED-1032s per fabric, or any other combination
within these tested limits.
This section provides instructions to:
•
Configure one or more customer-designated service processors as
clients and backups.
•
Configure a customer-designated service processor as the
Connectrix Manager server to manage all ED-1032s.
•
Connect all service processors (Connectrix Manager server and
clients) and bring up the resulting network.
Configuring the
Client
To configure the service processor in a customer-designated
Connectrix cabinet as a client and backup, refer to the EMC Customer
Service Web page for the latest procedure related to Release 2.0.
Configuring the
Connectrix
Manager Server
Configure the service processor in a customer-designated Connectrix
cabinet as the Connectrix Manager server:
1. At the Product Manager application, define the ED-1032s
(formerly managed by the client) to the Connectrix Manager
server definition. Use the IP address of the ED-1032s recorded in
step 1 of Configuring the Client on page E-4.
