About the CX700

Storage Processors (SPs)

The SP is the CX700 SPE’s intelligent component and acts as the
control center. An SP is a printed-circuit board and an airdam with
status lights and securing latches. Each SP includes

Dual Pentium IV processors

◆

4 Gbytes of DDR DIMM (double data rate, dual in-line memory
module) memory

◆

Four SFF (small form factor) shielded Fibre Channel connectors
(optical) for server I/O (connect to a switch or server HBA)

◆

Two HSSDC (high speed serial data connect) shielded Fibre
Channel connectors (copper) for disk connections (BE 0 and BE 1)

◆

Two HSSDC shielded fibre channel connectors (copper) for
additional loops and other options (BE 2/Aux 0 and BE 3/Aux 1)

◆

One serial port (COM 1) for RS-232 connection to a service
console

◆

One serial port (COM 2) for connection to a standby power
supply (SPS)

◆

One 10/100 Ethernet LAN port (01) for management and backup
