3. The data transmission is broken off
ý The call time window expires during the data transmission.
à This can only lead to interruption of the data transmission with EK260 volume
correctors with software version between 2.02 and 2.2... In this case make sure that
the complete data transmission can be executed within the readout time window by
appropriately setting the readout time window and by always starting the data calls
promptly.
ý Weak GSM network reception (mobile telephone network).

Carry out Point 6 of the procedure for putting into operation (Chapter 4 , page 9).
à Check whether the data transmission functions correctly when you mount the FE230
at another location or connect an external antenna (see Chapter II-2 on page 2).
ý Interference sources in the vicinity of the FE230 or the antenna.
à Check whether the data transmission functions correctly when you mount the FE230
or, where applicable, the external antenna at another location (a number of times if
necessary).
4. The reception field strength "GSM.L" cannot be measured
ý The software version of the connected EK260 is smaller than 2.30.
à
The field strength cannot in principle be measured with this configuration. You can
possibly estimate the field strength at the mounting point of the FE230 with the
display of a commercially available mobile telephone which uses the same GSM
network (e.g. D1 or D2). Where required, a software update of the volume corrector
can be carried out.
ý The interface mode "Md.S2" of the volume corrector is not set correctly.
à Contrary to the settings for data recall, the interface mode "Md.S2" must be set
temporarily to "6" for interrogating the reception field strength.
Carry out all the instructions in Point 5 for putting the device into operation (page 9).
ý The readout time window of the volume corrector is not set correctly.
à During the measurement of the reception field strength, the readout time window
must be active. (see page 9, Point 3,)
ý The volume corrector parameterisation is not correct.
à Put the device into operation (Chapter 4) again from Point 2 (page 8).
5. The number of ringing tones "Num.T" has no effect
ý The value "Num.T", which can be set on the volume corrector, always has no
significance when an FE230 is connected. The modem in the FE230 is parameterised
such that it automatically accepts each call after the first ringing tone. In this respect no
error is involved.
