WIRELESS OPEN/CLOSE MONITOR MAGNET DETECTORS
CTX5 & CTX5D

Magnet detectors CTX5 and CTX5D are designed for wireless notification of opening or closing of windows,
doors, etc. Detector CTX5, with one reed contact and one magnet can protect single wing window or door, while
detector CTX5D can protect double wing window or door and features two reed contacts and two external mag-
nets. The detectors operate with Elmes Electronic made alarm control panels and remote control receivers.
Detectors operate in two modes, set by jumper JP1:
JP1 set on
- detector sends just one radio transmission to corresponding receiver on window or door opening.
The receiver’s output sets on temporarily, for time period set in the receiver.
JP1 set off
- detector sends three random timed radio transmissions to corresponding receiver on window/door
opening as well as on window/door closing. Transmission on window opening sets on the receiver’s
output permanently, until window close transmission is received setting the output off.
IMPORTANT! After operating mode change detector must be re-learned to corresponding receiver.
Detectors feature terminal connector marked
B
designed for optional connection of external wired magnet de-
tector or switch. Jumper
A/B
allows selecting the detector to operate with internal reed contacts or external
wired magnet detector or switch. When jumper
A
is set on the detector operates with internal reed contact as
transmission trigger. When jumper
B
is set on the detector
operates with external wired magnet contact or
switch. If neither
A
or
B
are set on (both shunts opened) the detector operates with both: internal reed contact
and external magnet contact or switch simultaneously. Wires from external magnet contact or switch should be
lead through a hole to be made in plastic housing of the detector.
Anti-sabotage TAMPER alarm.
Detector signals attempts of opening its enclosure or removing from installa-
tion base by sending several alarm notifications to corresponding receiver. Sabotage alarm is signalled by set-
ting on of one of the receiver’s outputs.
Radio link failure notification.
Detector sends radio link test transmissions every 10 hours. If corresponding
receiver does not register any such transmissions within 24h period then it signals radio link failure with the de-
tector in the mode described in its operation manual.
Low battery notification.
Detector constantly monitors battery voltage level and information on its state is send
in every transmission to corresponding receiver which signals low battery level according to specification listed
in its manual.
LED indication.
Normally, detector’s LED lights on at every transmission. By removing shunt from jumper
marked LED the lighting is permanently set off.

Programming.
Programming, or otherwise described as learning, CTX5/D detector to Elmes Electronic wire-
less control panel is made according to the panel’s specification. Programming the detector to a receiver (mod-
els recommended: U4HR, CH8HR, CH20HR) selection of alarm signalling output is made in the receiver and
two operating modes of the detectors are available:
1.
With TAMPER alarm diverted to receiver’s last output
- while
learning
the detector to receiver (e.g.: to output 2 of the CH8HR receiver, as shown on
side diagram) transmissions should be triggered by external magnet (detec-
tor’s box closed and TAMPER not active). After learning output 2 signals
open/close alarm while TAMPER alarm will be active in output 8 (the last).

Without TAMPER alarm diversion
– allowing identification of TAMPER
alarm source when many detectors operate with one receiver. Detector learn-
ing to any output of receiver (diag.: to output 5 of CH8HR) should be made
using only its TAMPER switch. After learning, TAMPER alarm is active in out-
put 5 while open/close alarming is always signalled three outputs backwards,
i.e.at output 2, as shown on side diagram.
Detectors CTX5 and CTX5D may also operate with 1 and 2 outputs receivers,
only if jumper JP1 is set on (notification function of window/door opening only).
Jumper JP2 is used when detector is operating with older generation of Elmes
Electronic two outputs receivers that did not allow output selection. With JP2
set on alarming output 1 is selected while JP2 set off selects output number 2.

Installation.
(For diagrams of CTX5/5D installation please see reverse side of the manual)
CTX5 detector one wing window/door installation is made according to diagram 1 while CTX5D double wing
installation is shown on diagram 2. External magnets distance from shorter edge of detector (marked by “
d
” on
diag.) should be ca 12 mm. Maximal distance of magnet from reed contact sides of detector (marked “
a
” at di-
ag.) is 10 mm.
Modular construction of external magnet plastic holder allows the magnet to be installed at three different levels
on window/door wing/s – as shown on diagram 3. The levels marked
d
2
” are 6,7 mm, 10,7 mm and 12,7 mm
respectively. With internal reed contact level of 19,5 mm above detector’s base (marked “
d
1
” on diag.4), the
multi level magnet installation feature allows precise levelling of the magnet against reed contact position in dif-
ferent wing level situations.
After testing and ensuring proper operation of detector with magnet in desired place, firm installation can be
made by screwing one or two base modules of magnet holder to window/door wing (as shown on diag. 3) and
then installing top holder module with magnet inside by clicking it to the screwed base.
Operation range of the CTX5/5D detector is tested to reach 100m in open field. Concrete building construction,
increased wall humidity, metal obstacles and other radio transmission disturbances may vastly reduce detec-
tor’s operating range. Before final installation precise testing of the detector’s operation temporarily installed
should be conducted with corresponding control panel or receiver. To facilitate operation range test, radio
transmission level monitor Elmes RFM (sold separately) can be used.
