b. If the filter is installed in a remote location, attach
an installer supplied length of 1/4 inch tubing to the
1/4 inch tubing from the water dispenser using a
union coupling. The type of 1/4 inch tubing, copper
or plastic, should meet all local regulations and
building codes.
Note: Do not place the remote filter more than 15 feet
from the water dispenser.
2. Connect an installer supplied 3/8 inch water supply
tube to the quarter-turn shutoff valve, as shown. The
type of tubing, copper or plastic, should meet all local
regulations and building codes.
Note: Elkay also recommends installing a shutoff valve
at the source of the water supply for the water
dispenser.
3. Mark the current date on the water filter label and
attach it to filter head, if not already installed. Firmly
press the filter onto the filter head and turn it clockwise
to install or counterclockwise to remove. Make sure
the label is facing outward.
4.6 Connecting the Optional Catch Basin Drain
The water dispenser does not require a drain connection
to the household wastewater plumbing. The water
dispenser has a built-in catch basin that will hold the
typical overflow that can occur when using the product.
Some local building codes, however, may require a
wastewater drain to prevent the potential overflow of
water. The following steps cover the installation of the
drain.
