6.2 Checking calibration
1. Place the aperture of the gauge on the calibration tile in the box supplied with the instrument.
2. Press the Angle button to select the angle.
3. Press the Read button.
4. Compare the value shown on the display with the value written on the calibration tile for the
appropriate angle.
If the values are within
±
0.5 (GU), your gauge is correctly calibrated at that angle.
5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 above at each angle.
If the values differ by more than
±
0.5 (GU) it will be necessary to adjust the calibration (see section 6.4).
6.3 Calibration Reset
Your gauge includes a calibration reset facility which will restore the factory calibration settings of the gauge
at all angles quickly and easily. The zero offset (See “1. Calibrate to zero” on page 20) will also be cleared.
This reset facility is primarily intended to be used prior to calibrating on a tile after replacement of a lamp. It
is also useful when calibrating a gauge that reads a value greatly different to that assigned to a calibration
tile.
To use the calibration reset facility of your gauge:
1. Press the SET CAL button (on triple angle Glossmeters), or 2nd/SET CAL (on dual or single angle
Glossmeters)
The gauge will display ‘
ARE YOU SURE? PRESS YELLOW BUTTON’
.
2. Press the yellow button within 3 seconds to confirm and activate the reset.
After using the calibration reset facility, calibrate your gauge as described in section 6.4.
