ECTIVE MPPT Solar Charge Controllers with „IU1oU2“ load
characteristic are employed as a link between the solar panel(s) and
one or more batteries.
Using MPPT technology, the charge controller automatically determines
the maximum power yield (MPP) of the solar panels several times per
second. The voltage surplus of the solar panel is transformed to a
higher charging current for the battery. This is achieved through highly
efficient, high-frequency switching controller technology. This surplus
charging current results in short charging times and the optimal power
yield of the solar panels.
MPPT Solar Charge Controllers operate fully automatically. They
require no maintenance and offer the following functionality:
• 10% to 30% MPP charging current increase compared to conventional
controllers. This results from modern controller technology and the
enhanced performance is particularly evident in fall and winter, foggy
weather conditions or in diffuse light.
• Switchable characteristic lines of charging or optimum charging of
lead-gel/dryfit, AGM/fleece or acid/lead-acid batteries, as well as
LiFePO4 batteries. (Please consult the table in the section “Instructions
for Battery Charging”).
• The charging voltage is free of spikes and controlled in a way that
prevents overcharging of batteries.
• Unattended Charging: Standard protection against overcharging,
overheating, reverse polarity and back discharge of the battery (in case
of insufficient solar power, such as at twilight, at night etc.).
• Parallel and Floating Operation: Observation of the characteristic
lines of charging, even with simultaneous operation of consumers.
• Overcharge protection: Reduction of the charging current of the
battery in case of excessive solar power or a fully charged battery.
