Use of this unit assumes that the operator observes the conventional safety regulations
and has read the certificate in order to eliminate faulty operation of the unit.

The following safety regulations must also be complied with:

-  Opening the CNx(e) ATEX unit is deemed to be interfering with the internal electronics

of the device and should therefore only be conducted by the manufacturer or persons
authorised by the manufacturer.

- The unit should not be exposed to abrasive acids or bases.
- Only wipe the unit with a damp cloth.
-  Only the appropriate battery type AB28-Ex, AB9-Ex or AB16-Ex should be used inside

hazardous areas.

- The battery module should only be exchanged outside the Ex-area.
-  After changing the battery and before using the device in the Ex-area it must be ensu-

red that the appropriate locking screw secures the battery catch in place and that the
battery cannot be removed through lateral displacement of the catch.

- Additional batteries must not be carried in the Ex-area.
-  The battery should only be charged outside the Ex-area using the following chargers:

Battery charger AC14, docking stations: AD10, AD11, AD12 (Intermec models are
suitable.)

-  When the charging process has completed wait for 3 minutes before entering the Ex-

area.

-  In general all CNx(e) ATEX units should only be taken into the zone 22 Ex-area if the

interface has been securely sealed by attaching the dust clip. To attach the dust clip
see Figure 1

-  In general the CN3e ATEX, CN4 ATEX and CN4e ATEX units should only be taken into

the zone 2 Ex-area if the interface has been securely sealed by attaching the dust clip.
To attach the dust clip see Figure 1

- Removal of the clip in the specified Ex-areas is not permitted.
-  All CNx(e) ATEX units should only be taken into zone 2 and zone 22 Ex-areas if the

appropriate wrist strap is attached at both ends of the unit.

- It must be ensured that the unit is not taken into zones 0 and 1 or 20 and 21.
-  If the Snap-On RFID 510 -Ex becomes detached from the CNx(e) ATEX device in the

Ex-area, it should be reattached immediately after conducting a visual inspection for
mechanical damage. If this is not possible, the CNx(e) ATEX port must be sealed with
the dust clip.
