4.1 Where are the standard files?
For the PROFIBUS-DP gateway, there are two different standard GSD files
available in order to make it possible to run the gateway with different types
of field bus masters. Accordingly, you will get the latest available language-
specific GSD files for:
•
Motorola based CPU (e.g. Siemens S7)
•
Moel4dxx.gsd (English)
•
Moel4dxx.gsf (French)
•
Moel4dxx.gsg (German)
•
Moel4dxx.gsi (Italian)
•
Moel4dxx.gss (Spanish)
•
the appropriate figures KM4D13_D.bmp and KM4D13_N.bmp
•
Intel-based CPUs (e.g. Eaton XC100/200)
•
Moe4dxx.gsd (English)
•
the corresponding KM4D14_N.bmp figure
where xx = GSD file version. Files with xx = "13" correspond to the Profibus
V0 Specification, while files with xx= "14" correspond to the Profibus V1
Specification.
To download the standard GSD file, please visit our Support Center
Page 3. To find it quickly, simply enter "SWD" or "GSD" as a search term.
▶
Click on "Download" to the left of "GSD file for ... Motorola ..."
or "GSD file for ... Intel ..." .
▶
Select the latest version, save it, and unzip the .zip file in a project folder
of your choice.
4.2 What is a project-specific GSD file
Instead of using a standard GSD file, you can also use SWD assist to gener-
ate a project-specific GSD file and use it in the PLC programming environ-
ment the same way you would a standard GSD file. The selection of SWD
modules on the SWD line will already be assigned to the EU5C-SWD modu-
lar field bus module.
If you load the project-specific GSD file into the PLC programming environ-
ment, the SWD modules will be shown directly under "Selected Modules,"
eliminating the need to select each individual SWD module
manually
Section “5.4 Select the SmartWire-DT® modules”, page 33. In
addition, this will prevent you from selecting the wrong SWD modules by
accident.
Follow the steps below in order to generate a project-specific GSD file:
▶
Start SWD assist.
▶
Switch to the Communication view by clicking on the
"View" -> "Communication View" menu option.
▶
Click the "Online" button.
The program will show the target configuration, but this configuration will not
be in the Project view yet.
