CLEARANCES TO COMBUSTIBLES
Location of flammable or explosive objects, liquids or vapours close to the
appliance may cause fire or explosion and result in property damage, injury or death.
Do not use, store or locate flammable or explosive objects, liquids or vapours in
proximity of the appliance.
The clearance to combustible material represents the minimum distance that
must be maintained between the outer heater surface and a nearby surface. The stated
clearance to combustible represents a surface temperature of 90 F (50 C) above room
temperature. It is the installer's responsibility to ensure that building materials with a low
heat tolerance, which may degrade at lower temperatures, are protected to prevent
degradation.
Minimum 24” must be provided at the centre of the appliance for burner
servicing. W hen venting through a wall the vent terminal must be located at least 7.0 ft
above grade. This appliance must be mounted at least 7 ft above the floor in Canada,
and 8 ft above the floor in the U.S.
Anyone in the proximity of the appliance should be alerted to the hazards of high
surface temperatures and should stay away to avoid burns or clothing ignition. Clothing
or other flammable materials should not be hung from the appliance, or placed on or
near the heater.
Any cover removed from the appliance must be replaced prior to operation of the
heater.
Do not use this appliance if any part has been under water. Immediately call a
qualified service technician to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the
control system and any gas control, which has been under water.
