OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Before filling the bag, become familiar with the operation of your spreader.
Obtain proper setting for material to be used from the rate-setting chart found in this manual or on the underside of
the unit.
Loosen wing nut and move setting indicator to proper setting. (Unit is in closed position when gauge lever is on the
stop bubble). Tighten wing nut after adjustment.
To fill, make sure the gauge lever is in the closed position. Fill bag approximately 1/2 to 2/3 full.
To wear the spreader, please grab spreader by the base and situate the strap over your neck and shoulder. This will
make sure the bag stays in place during use.
Always start by walking and turning handle crank before opening the shutoff plate. To open plate, simply pull the
gauge lever back and onto the indicator. The hole on the lever will match up with the bolt on the indicator.
Crank should make one revolution for each step taken with your right foot to ensure proper distribution rate. A
walking speed of 3mph is recommended.
To close shutoff plate, simply push up on gauge lever and move it back to the closed position, securing it on the stop
bubble.
The settings furnished on the Rate Setting Matrix are intended as a guide only. Variations in physical characteristics of
material applied, walking speed, and roughness of ground surface may require slightly different spreader settings. Due to
the above conditions, the manufacturer makes no warranty as to accuracy of the rate applied.
