Converters
2.4.5.4.1 Primary convertor
The primary convertor provides the power supplies necessary to the IDR IDO 3G
sub-assemblies (see Figure 2.13).
The convertor is powered on/off using the “I/O” switch on the front panel (see Plate 6.IV,
item 2 or 9).
2 types of convertor (at the choice of the command) to power the IDR IDO 3G:
• by the 100-240 V AC, 50-60 Hz mains,
• by an external 12-24 V DC direct power supply (limits 10.8 V to 31.2 V).
The AC/DC or DC/DC conversion circuit carries out the cutting, rectification, filtering and
regulation to provide a per 12 V direct voltage and + 48 V remote controlled by
the synchronisation board.
A 6.3 AT fuse (not accessible) located inside the convertor provides protection for the
primary convertor.
Additional protection mechanisms protect the convertor against overvoltages and
interfering pulses on input, short circuits and currents that are too high on output, as well as
in temperature.
