Feedline Connection
Figure 12 - Feedline Connection using the optional Bulkhead Connector
Install the Studded Band Clamp on the lower Base Section as
shown in
Figure 12
. The Studded Band Clamp is the feedpoint
connection for the vertical elements. Use a small amount of
Penetrox between the clamp and the lower base section to insure
a good electrical connection.
Using a customer supplied ring terminal, short piece of insulated
wire (14 gage is adequate) and a PL-259 you can make a pigtail
to run from the feedline connection on the antenna base to the
optional
DXE-363-SST
Bulkhead Fitting which is installed in the
optional
DXE-RADP-3
Radial Plate. To minimize stress on the
feedline connection, make sure the feed point connection has
sufficient slack when raising and lowering the vertical. This
combination ensures a good feedline connection and a good
connection from your coaxial cable shield to the radial field.
Make sure all connections are tight.
If an optional
DXE-VFCC-H05-A
Vertical Feedline Current
Choke is used, the bulkhead connector is not used. The coaxial
feedline connects directly to the input of the Vertical Feedline
Current Choke. Reference the manual for the
DXE-VFCC-H05-
A
Vertical Feedline Current Choke for more details.
