 TX Battery

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

(for all Duralite Plus Li-Ion TX batteries except 10X & X9303)

• Prior to using the DURALITE PLUS

 Battery System please read and

follow the Safety Information & Handling Precautions.
• It is recommended to use a DURALITE Plus

 charger.  However other lith-

ium chargers can be used as long as they are properly set for 2 cells (7.4 volts

for RX packs) or 3 cells (11.1 volts for TX packs).

Note: The charge rate is

not to exceed 1 amp maximum to avoid damge to the balancing circuit.

•  Plug  supplied  battery  charging  cord  connector  into  the  female  port

on the top of the charger. The transmitter charging lead for JR has a

Gray housing and is reverse polarity. The transmitter charging lead for

FUTABA has a Black housing. This port is marked TX and is set at 11.1

volts. Make sure you push it all the way into the charger.
•

Stop fly voltage

 is when you reach

10.8 volts

 reading on your Trans-

mitter.
• A green light will come on to verify charging is in process. The light

will go out when the battery reaches a full charge status (up to 6 hours

depending on the size of the battery ) and at that time you should dis-

connect the battery from the charger.  ALWAYS BE PRESENT DURING

CHARGING  CYCLE. Always  disconnect  battery  from  charger  when

charging cycle is complete. Never leave the battery connected to the

charger for more than 6 hours.
• Always check the battery voltage with a one-amp load prior to each

flight. It is the pilot’s responsibility to verify safe operating voltage before

each flight.
MEASURING THE BATTERY VOLTAGE
• A reading by the Transmitter may vary and output voltage may range

from 12.4 or above depending on which transmitter you are using. When

using a Futaba 9Z radio to confirm battery voltage, use the supplied TX

battery Voltage Test Lead. Plug one end into your Digital Load Tester and

the other end into your FUTABA transmitter. Read the Digital Load Meter

with no load and compare the reading with the one on your Transmitter

screen.

The reading off the Digital Load Tester will be accurate

! Take

note if there is a difference in voltage and remember to keep this differ-

ence in mind when reading the Transmitter scre

Transmitter

Transmitter

en voltage during future

flights.
• You will notice that the Transmitter low voltage alarm will not function.

This alarm is not compatible with Li-ion batteries due to the higher volt-

age.
• Discharging the Batteries below 8.4 volts will damage the pack.
• The charger’s power supply receptacle is center negative and the char-

ger’s receiver and transmitter battery charging receptacles are center

positive.
• Always check the battery voltage with prior to each flight thus verify-

ing proper operating voltage.
• Never subject the battery to sustained temperatures below -4° F (-

20° C) or above temperatures of 140° F (60° C.)

SAFETY INFORMATION & HANDLING PRECAUTIONS

Read  this  information  prior  to  using  product.  Misuse  of  a  battery  may

result in the battery generating heat, exploding or venting flame. Be sure

to follow proper safety precautions.

•  It is recommended to use a DURALITE Plus

 charger.

• The recommended safe charging procedure for all Li-ion & Li-Poly bat-

teries is to charge them out of the aircraft in a fire proof area or container.

If the batteries are too difficult to remove from the aircraft, place the model

on a non-flammable surface, outside and away from anything combustible.

ALWAYS BE PRESENT DURING CHARGING CYCLE. ALWAYS DISCON-

NECT  BATTERY  FROM  CHARGER  WHEN  CHARGING  CYCLE  IS  COM-

PLETE. NEVER LEAVE THE BATTERY CONNECTED TO CHARGER FOR

MORE THAN 6 HOURS. Never attempt to charge a damaged battery.
• Do not short the battery.
• Do not use the battery with the positive and negative terminals reversed.
• Never disassemble or attempt to modify the battery in anyway. Never remove

the protective shrink covering. Never remove the protective circuitry. The war-

ranty is voided if the battery has been modified or altered in any way.
• Do not pierce the battery, strike the battery, crush the battery or subject the

battery to strong impact.
• Do not directly solder to the battery.
• Do not immerse in water. Do not freeze the batteries.
• The temperature range over which the batteries may be discharged is –4° F

(-20° C) to 140° F (60 ° C).
• Never subject the battery to sustained temperatures below -4° F (-20° C) or

above temperatures of 140° F (60° C.)
• Temperature range over which the batteries may be charged is 32° F (0° C)

to 113° F (45° C).
• Do not discharge the batteries below  8.25 volts. Charge rate not to exceed
1 amp
• If the wire leads accidentally short out place battery in a safe place and observe

for 15 minutes.
• Do not put a damaged battery in the car, house or shop. Always insure that it

is discharged outside on a non-flammable surface until it is safe to dispose of.

Always dispose of discharged or used batteries in an ecologically responsible

manner. Never burn or incinerate any battery.
