 1 General

1.1  Symbols

Signal words are used in this manual and apply to hazards or unsafe practices which could result in 

personal injury or property damage. See the information below for definitions of the signal words.

 2 Cleaning and Disinfection Instructions

WARNING

Warning indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death 

or serious injury.

CAUTION

Caution indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in property 

damage or minor injury or both.

WARNING

Mattresses MUST be cleaned and disinfected regularly after each patient use. Because of the 
potential risk of infectious exposure, cleaning with the patient on the bed is not recommended. 
All equipment should be visually inspected.  Any item that is visibly soiled with the patient’s 
blood or other bodily fluids should be properly cleaned or removed. Staff members should 
treat all soiled bedding using universal precaution: as it it were contaminated with pathogenic 
microorganisms. Staff members should wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment when 
cleaning and disinfecting mattresses. All cleaning and disinfecting solutions must be prepared 
according to the manufacturers’ instructions. Follow standard institutional wipe down and 
infection control procedures. DO NOT open the zippered mattress top cover during cleaning, 
infection control procedures or during use. DO NOT launder or autoclave mattress covers.

2  Cleaning Instructions and Warranty

Cover Material:

• Polyfiber/ Polyurethane Stretch

 

Wipe down the mattress unit with a damp cloth pre-soaked with warm water containing a mild detergent. 

Approved intermediate level disinfectants may be used according to the cover material.  Please refer to 

the chart below for recommended disinfectants. After cleaning and disinfection, please avoid dust and 

proximity to dusty areas.  All parts should be air dried thoroughly before use.
