Able Assist User Manual
(Ref: PT004_IFU Issued 01/17)
Using the Able Assist with a Chair
The Able Assist can be used to aid a User getting
out of a chair, commode, toilet or wheelchair. If
used with a wheelchair, then the wheelchair
brakes should be applied and the legrests
removed prior to operation.
1. Position the User as shown below so they
are facing the Able Assist with their feet on
the floor.
2. Spread the legs if required and get the User
to place their feet on the footplate.
Flip up the Seat Pads and apply the Castor
Brakes.
3. The User should grab the Hand Rail with
both hands and use this to assist them
with standing as shown below:
4. Once the User is fully stood up, the carer
should flip down the Seat Pads and user
can then perch on the pads.
5. The carer can then remove the brakes
and propel the Able Assist including the
User to their destination.
