Materials you can use in a microwave oven:
Browning dish:
the bottom of the browning dish should be at least 3/16 of
an inch (5 mm) above the turntable. Incorrect use can cause the rotating
platform to break.
Tableware:
only for microwave, follow the manufacturer's instructions. Do
not use cracked or chipped plates.
Glass jars:
always remove the lid. Use only to heat foods until they are
lukewarm. Most glass jars are not resistant to heat and can break.
Glassware:
oven-resistant glass only. Make sure there are no metal
ornaments. Do not use cracked or chipped plates.
Bags for cooking in the oven:
do not close with a metal tie. Make slits to
allow steam to escape.
Paper plates and cups:
used only for short-term cooking / heating. Do not
leave the oven unattended while cooking.
Paper towels:
used to cover foods to reheat and absorb fat. Use only with
supervision for short-term cooking.
Parchment paper:
use a cover to avoid splashing or a wrap to vaporize.
Plastic:
Only suitable for microwaves. It must be labeled "microwave safe";
some plastic containers soften, as the food inside becomes hot. "Boiled
bags" and tightly closed plastic bags should be cut, punctured or ventilated
as indicated on the package.
Plastic wrap:
only for microwaves. Use to cover food during cooking to
retain moisture. Do not allow the plastic wrap to touch the food.
Thermometers:
only for microwaves (thermometers for meats and sweets).
Waxed paper: use it as a cover to avoid splashing and retain moisture.
