4.2
Electrical installation
Electrical installation must only be laid out and connected by a
qualified specialist whilst observing all relevant regulations.
When laying out cables, please comply with all local and
national regulations regarding the separation of AC power, low
voltage and control circuits (in Germany: VDE regulations).
4.2.1
Power and earth connection
A pluggable power block is provided for connection to the
power supply.
The power consumptions applicable for different connection
voltages are listed in the table below.
If possible, connect the device to a protective earth conductor/
PE via the earth terminal on the rear of the device chassis.
4.2.2
Connections on the underside
The connections on the rear of the device are intended for
connecting peripheral devices and network components. The
PORT B RS485 network connection highlighted in the figure is
used to connect a Dräger REGARD 3900/3910 Modbus gateway.
4.2.3
Connection diagram
The following diagram illustrates the connection of a Dräger
REGARD 3900 to the RVP 3900 with a REGARD 3900 Modbus
gateway. In it, PORT B RS485 is also highlighted in colour.
WARNING
If using 230 V mains power, 50 Hz in the cabinet:
A simple touch could cause severe burns or even
death. Electrical wiring should only be installed by a
qualified electrician. Ensure the power is switched off
before installation!
