2.2 Terminal Installation
To install the Omni Antenna at the terminal (with a terminal installed VIS) you will need to supply:
l
2 X Steel Bands, 2.5"
l
2" diameter x 12' length pole (galvanized or aluminum). One end must be threaded to fit the threads of
the flange.
IMPORTANT:
Do not use cable extensions. Use of a cable extension can have an unwanted
effect on the operation of the antenna.
l
Cap for the top of the pole (to prevent the ingress of water).
l
Flange for 2" diameter pole. This flange must be structurally sufficient to hold the length of the pole.
NOTE:
A threaded flange and pole are recommended.
NOTE:
If the pole needs additional support it can be clamped to a nearby support or structure.
DO NOT clamp the pole to the pedestal or terminal.
2.2.1 Install the Flange
DANGER: Do not use electric or battery operated power tools!
To avoid
the possibility of explosion or fire, when you install these components near the
Hazardous Area, use pneumatic tools only. Be sure your system is completely
de-energized before you do the installation.
DANGER:
Make sure that the pole used to install the antenna is not
grounded to the terminal or other system components.
Make sure the antenna is isolated from the pole. Use a non-conductive
material between the antenna bracket and the metal pole.
