Section 3 Panel Antenna
The Panel antenna extends the maximum effective range to 130 feet (40 meters). Select an installation
method, terminal installed VIS or remote VIS, for optimum antenna performance. A terminal installed VIS can
use either a pole-installed antenna or an antenna installed directly under a canopy (up to the maximum cable
length).
3.1 Components
The Panel Antenna kit (OPW-FMS P/N 20-4502-2) has these components:
l
Panel Antenna (OPW-FMS P/N 75-2084)
l
Antenna Bracket Assembly (all fasteners are included in the kit) (OPW-FMS P/N 51-0590)
n
MNT-22-1 - Antenna Plate
n
MNT-22-2 - Angle Bracket
n
MNT-22-3 - Pole/Wall Mount
n
MNT-22-4 - Pole Bracket
l
15' Cable (OPW-FMS P/N 12-1305)
l
Cable Gland (OPW-FMS P/N 50-0567)
3.2 Terminal Installation
To install the Panel Antenna at the terminal (with a terminal installed VIS) you will need:
l
2" diameter x 12' length (minimum) pole (galvanized or aluminum). One end must be threaded to fit the
threads of the flange.
IMPORTANT:
Do not use cable extensions. Use of a cable extension can have an unwanted
effect on the operation of the antenna.
l
Cap for the top of the pole (to prevent the ingress of water).
l
Flange for 2" diameter pole. This flange must be structurally sufficient to hold the length of the pole.
NOTE:
A threaded flange and pole are recommended.
NOTE:
If the pole needs additional support it can be clamped to a nearby support or structure.
DO NOT clamp to pole to the pedestal or terminal.
