Operating Instructions
Dupline 4-way Relay Output DSM 4R
7. General Information
The DSM 4R is a component of the Dupline installation system. It permits the switching
of four independent loads, which may be operated on different phases. Each load can
have a current consumption of up to 16 A.
Each switching channel is provided with a physical acknowledgement feature to indicate
the output voltage which is actually present. This acknowledgement is given by the LED
on the front of the device or, on the other hand, may be given via the Dupline bus.
The green LED located in the frontal coding and test socket indicates that the Dupline
bus signal is functioning properly.
The all-or-nothing relays are designed for retentivity, which means that their status is
stored should a power failure occur. A faulty Dupline signal will result in all outputs being
automatically either switched on or switched off.
8. Coding
With the hand encoder DHK 1 each channel can be assigned any address between A1
and P8 using the modular plug at the front of the DSM 4R. The channel allocation is as
follows:
The outputs are configured at the works so that they are switched on if a bus failure oc-
curs. This configuration can also be changed with the DHK 1. If the value "0" is configu-
red, all outputs are switched off in the event of a bus failure; if "1" is set, they are switched
on.
9. Putting into Service
Commissioning may only be carried out by an authorised trained technician. Observe the
connection diagram when installing. All lines to be connected must be dead.
In order to utilize the physical acknowledgement feature of the device, each channel to
be acknowledged has to be wired to the appropriate N-terminal. If the N-connection of a
channel is missing, the relevant LED of the channel will not light up and no acknowledg-
ment will be given via the Dupline bus.
The N-connections may not be used as a feed-through for the N-conductors of several
loads. In the case of circuits involving different RCCBs, care should also be taken that N
is correctly assigned.
Connections between the Dupline signal and the 24V supply, or connections to earth po-
tential, will cause malfunctions and are not permissible.
