Operating Instructions
DSM 4M 4-way Relay Module
8. General Information
The DSM 4M is a component of the Dupline installation system and permits the switching of
four independent loads, which may be distributed on different phases. Each load can have a
current consumption of up to 16 A.
The all-or-nothing relays are suitable for high loads and are designed with retentivity, thus en-
suring the status's being stored should a power failure occur. A faulty Dupline signal may be
programmed to result either in compulsory connection or disconnection if the power supply is
in order.
Each relay is also equipped with an operating lever which not only indicates the actual switch-
ing position, but also provides for manual operation in the event of power failure or a bus fault.
Use a screw driver o r any other suitable tool to switch over. Th e current switching position of
the relay is transmitted back via channels 5...8, provided power supply and bus signal are
functional.
The green LED located in the coding and test socket on the front of the device indicates that
the Dupline bus signal is functioning properly.
9. Important Notes in Advance
In order to protect both life and components, please observe the following safety instructions:
• Installation may only be carried out by authorised, trained technicians.
• The 24 V DC power and Dupline signal supply has to be delivered by sources,
which have to be installed in accordance with the regulations governing protective
low-voltage (see VDE 0100, Part 410, or EN 50090-9-1) as well as the installation
has to comply with these requirements. Even if extensive protective measures have
been implemented in the device, other voltages at the signal inputs could result not
only in the destruction of the device, but also endanger people. For further informa-
tion please refer to the Dupline Planning Aid.
•
Remotely-controlled sockets
may represent a dan ger source. To ensure that
they are ins talled according to Standard requirements, they must be suitably
marked. The enclosed stickers are intended to assist you in this.
• When manually operating the relays, please ensure that neither people nor animals
are within the vicinity of the switched electrical loads.
10. Coding
With the hand encoder DHK 1 each channel can be assigned any address between A1 and P8
using the modular plug at the front of the DSM 4M. The channel allocation is as follows:
The outputs are configured at the works so that they are switched on if a bus failure occurs.
This configuration can also be changed with the DHK 1. If the value "0" is configured, all out-
puts are switched off in the event of a bus failure; if "1" is set, they are switched on.
