Only clean the device with a soft, dry linen cloth, which may be slightly damp if
the device is very dirty. Never use solvent-based detergents for cleaning. Make
sure to carefully dry the device after cleaning and ensure that no moisture enters
the inner parts.
9. Care and Maintenance
The wildlife Repeller is most effective when it is mounted at head height of the
animals you want to chase away. The light and noise have a wider range than the
motion sensor (see drawing below). Animals thus tend to move further away from
the surveillance area.
When positioning and setting up the wildlife Repeller, please also follow the
instructions below to maximise the effectiveness of the device and to avoid any
false triggers, as these can strongly affect the battery life:
Install the device exclusively in a vertical orientation. The motion sensor will
only work properly this way.
Ideally, mount the device on wooden surfaces such as a barn wall, a fence
post, tree, etc., as the radio signal can be strongly impeded if the device is
mounted on metal and rock surfaces.
Mount the device out of reach of children and pets to avoid accidental mani-
pulation and false triggers.
If possible, mount the device under a roof or an overhang to better protect it
from precipitation and direct sunlight.
Make sure to set the sensitivity level such that it does not get triggered
by persons walking by (e.g. on sidewalks) or by neighbours. Branches and
plants moving in the wind can also trigger the sensor when the sensitivity
is set too high. Consider reducing the motion sensor range by lowering the
sensitivity level (2).
A short duration of the light and sound broadcast emitted by the device
(which you can adjust with the timer [3]) conserves the batteries and en-
sures that the device can operate longer before you have to replace the bat-
teries. A longer trigger time, however, more effectively deters the animals
from the area. Try out various settings and adjust them as needed until you
have found the one that works best for you and your surroundings.
Choose a radio channel with high speech content to maximise the deterring
effect. Animals tend to be less scared of music than of loud voices.
Set the volume as high as possible to achieve a strong deterring effect.
Make sure that neighbours, passerbys and other persons do not feel distur-
bed by the noise.
