    Description

The CU 6110 is a system controller in the DCS 6000 Digital
Conference System. The CU controls everything from small sys-
tems with only a few conference units to large systems with many
conference units, channel selectors, interpretation and voting
facilities.
It supplies power to the conference units and interpreter units. It
operates up to 3,800 conference units and 150 interpreter units in
a single bus cable structure known as the DCS-LAN; a proprietary
high-speed digital audio, data and power bus. All units are daisy
chained using CAT 5e (or higher) F/UTP or U/FTP cables.
The CU 6110 features fully digital audio transmission of the floor
channel and up to 31 interpretation channels. Up to 8 conference
microphones can be open at the same time. The units can be di-
vided into eight groups using a built-in group matrix.
The CU 6110 features two analog audio inputs and eight analog
audio outputs. The eight analog audio outputs are used for distri-
bution of audio from eight groups of units, the floor channel or the
interpreter channels.  This is used either for connection to external
PA systems, for recording purposes or for connection to a lan-
guage distribution systems like the DIS Digital Wireless Infrared
System.
The audio from the built-in loudspeakers in the conference
units is routed from Group A and/or from the ‘Audio In 1 or 2’.
Connections for Emergency Evacuation Message (EEM) is avail-
able using ‘Audio In 2’ and a contact closure switch.
The OLED display on the front of the unit enables the user to
setup basic system configurations in terms of maximum number of
speakers/requests, microphone operation mode etc.
The CU 6110 provides TCP/IP communication over Ethernet. All
system settings from a web browser interface, which also features
simple microphone control. For more advanced controls, SW 6000
Conference Management Software is available. The CU 6110
also provides a simple to use protocol for external control over
Ethernet.
The DCS-LAN chain can be branched using repeater RP 6004 or
extension unit EX 6010. Additional units can be powered using
power supply PS CU with power inserter PI 6000 or extension
unit EX 6010. Inserting JB 6104 junction boxes in the DCS-LAN
chain enables hot plug of single units. Each JB 6104 junction box
features connection of a single unit to each of the four outputs on
the junction box.

    Features

The CU 6110 has the following 'out-of-the-box' features:
•    Digital audio transmission
•   Daisy chain topology with loop-through connections or star topology using

junction boxes or repeaters

•   DCS-LAN connection using CAT 5e (or higher) shielded F/UTP or U/FTP

cabling

•   Control of up to 50 conference/128 interpreter units (expandable - see below)
•   Up to eight open microphones/up to four interpretation channels
•   Support for three microphone modes; Automatic, FIFO and Manual and three

interrupt modes

•   'Auto off' option for microphones
•   Scrambled audio to avoid eavesdropping
•   Powers up to 60 units without an extra power supply (depending on unit type)
•   Eight analog audio outputs (group out or interpretation channels out)
•   TCP/IP Ethernet connection for browser control, SW 6000 and third party

external control (AMX, Crestron etc.)

•   Multi-language web browser for system configuration, microphone/request list

control and basic operational parameters

•   Built-in table for attaching seat numbers/names to units using a browser

By installing a feature license for the CU 6110, additional features are available:
•    Control of up to 3,800 conference units
•   Up to 31 interpretation channels
•   Voting (One to five buttons in combination with DC 6990P or CUA) and

Attendance Check

•   Microphone operation mode VOX (voice activation)

Using the SW 6000 Conference Management Software, even more features can
be made available like the following:
•    Additional voting functionality (passed/not passed and quorum formulas,

delegated votes, manual results)

•   Conference facilities including agenda handling, delegate details and reports
•   Mimic operation
•   Message handling
•   Chip card registration
•   Multi-language user interface
