Installation Information

instructions. Machining or modification of frames or shell parts require some
skill and patience, as they are easily damaged. After market pre-machined
frames may be available for some locomotives.

. Carefully remove the Atlas GP38 shell parts. Remove the factory analog
light PCB, trucks, drive shafts, motor and all parts and carefully save these in
the correct order for re-installation.

. Place the decoder in position on one frame half and route the motor tabs
through the PCB slots, as shown in
Figure 1.
Reassemble the mechanism
making sure that the track pickup springs are not bent from position, which
may cause poor pickup. If the decoder power tabs in the frames are a loose
fit due to tolerances, it is useful to place some kapton tape under the
decoder (in front of motor tabs) to make the fit more snug.
