Dear Customer,
thank you for purchasing a Digicom product.
DESCRIPTION
PCI Wave 54 supports the new IEEE 802.11g
standard, with speed up to 54Mbps, for the best
performances in a Wireless connection. PCI
Wave 54 also complies with the IEEE 802.11b
standard to guarantee the compatibility with the
old 11Mbps networks.
PCI Wave 54 supports “Ad-Hoc” applications (Peer-to-Peer Networking without Access
Point), and “Infrastructure” applications (Networking with Access Point).
PCI Wave 54 operates with Windows XP, 2000, Me, 98SE.
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
In order to use the card correctly it is necessary to install the driver of the device and an
utility for the configuration.
Attention
: Do not insert the card in the PC before you run the Software installation.
1. Before connecting your PCI Wave 54, run the utility installation. Insert the Cd-Rom
you found in the package, then go throught the following steps: Start > Run > Browse…
search for the
Setup.exe
file in the card folder, select it and click
OK
.
2. During the installation follow the on-screen instructions.
3. At the end click
Finish
.
4. Shut down your computer and go on with HARDWARE INSTALLATION.
HARDWARE INSTALLATION
1. Turn off the computer and unplug the power cord, remove the computer’s cover.
Select an available PCI slot and push firmly, but gently, until PCI Wave 54 is well
seated. Put back the computer’s cover, connect the power cord and turn it on.
2. Windows will detect the new hardware. Select
Install the software automatically
and click
Next
.
3. Windows will automatically install the device using the driver previously copied in the
utility installation.
4. Click
Continue Anyway
in the
Hardware Installation
window.
5. Select the right Country.
6. At the end click
Finish
.
7. The installation is over and PCI Wave 54 will search for the Wireless devices.
CONNECT TO A WIRELESS NETWORK THROUGH AN ACCESS POINT
Select
Start
>
Control Panel
>
Network connections
.
Right click on the
Wireless network connection
, icon and select
Properties
. Disable
the
Use Windows to configure
… checkbox in order to use the provided utility for the
card set up.
From
Start
>
Programs
>
802.11 Wireless LAN
run utility configuration.
Select the
Network
folder and check the detected Wireless devices. Select the Access
Point you wish to connect and click
Connect
.
To increase the security, enable the Encryption in Configuration folder.
In the Network card Properties set the right IP address for your wireless network
connection.
CONNECT TO A WIRELESS NETWORK WITHOUT AN ACCESS POINT
In order to set up a Wireless
Peer-to-Peer
network (
Ad-Hoc
mode), use the above
described configuration utility, setting the same
SSID
,
Channel
and
Security
parameters
in each client configuration.

Rapid changes of temperature or humidity should be avoided.
This equipment, including cables, should be installed in an area free from:
Dust, humidity, heat from direct sun light.
Objects which irradiate heat. These could cause damage to the container or other
problems.
Objects which produce a strong electtromagnetic field (loudspeakers, etc.)
Liquids or chemical corrosive substances.
CLEANING THE TERMINAL
Use a clean and soft cloth. Wet the cloth with water or natural detergent if it is necessary
to remove any stains. Never use chemical products such as petrol or solvents.
VIBRATIONS OR DROPPING
Caution against vibrations and dropping.
