Working clearances
Recommended working clearances
between portable and mobile RF
communication devices and the UNIT
The UNIT is intended for operation in an electromagnetic environment,
where radiated RF interference is checked. The customer or the user of
the UNIT can help prevent electromagnetic interference by duly
observing the minimum distances between portable and/or mobile RF
communication devices (transmitters) and the UNIT. These values may
vary according to the output power of the relevant communication
device as specified below.

For transmitters whose maximum nominal output is not specified in the
above table, the recommended working clearance
d
in meters (m) can
be determined using the equation in the corresponding column, where
P
is the maximum nominal output of the transmitter in watts (W) specified
by the transmitter manufacturer.
Remark 1
An additional factor of 10/3 is applied when calculating the
recommended working clearance between transmitters in the 80 MHz to
2.3 GHz frequency range in order to reduce the probability that a
mobile/portable communication device unintentionally brought into the
patient area could lead to interference.
Remark 2
These guidelines may not be applicable in all cases. The propagation of
electromagnetic waves is influenced by their absorption and reflection
by buildings, objects and persons.
