TCP/IP
CONNECTION
If the GSM/UMTS module is installed, you can establish a direct TCP/IP connection to a remote
server over the Internet and interact with the PC (server) with the data logger as if there was a
direct cable connection.
The connection can be established on demand (with the command TCPCONNECT) or automati-
cally at regular intervals (setting with the command TCPIPSEARCH the option to connect auto-
matically at regular intervals).
The data logger allows you to set the symbolic address of the web server to be reached (for ex-
ample, "www.myserver.com"), which must be translated into the IP address of the server from a
DNS service at the time of connection request. If the server to be reached has a static IP ad-
dress, the service is done by the default DNS server of the Internet provider. If the server to be
reached has a dynamic IP address, you must register the server to a DDNS (Dynamic DNS) ser-
vice and set as symbolic web address in the data logger the complete host name used during the
registration.
