Installation
• Place the appliance on a work surface away from water
taps and sinks.
• Check that the voltage of the mains power supply cor-
responds to the value indicated on the appliance rating
plate. Connect the appliance to an efficiently earthed
electrical socket with a minimum rating of 6A only. The
manufacturer declines all liability for any accidents cau-
sed by the absence of an efficient earth system.
• If the power socket does not match the plug on the ap-
pliance, have the socket replaced with a suitable type by
a qualified electrician.
IMPORTANT:
the first time the coffee maker is used, all the
accessories and internal components should be washed with
hot water. Then make and throw away a few batches of coffee
without drinking.
How to make coffee
When the base is plugged into the mains power supply, the elec-
tronic control emits a beep and 00:00 flashes on the display. You
can now make coffee, even without setting the time.
1) Make sure the coffee maker is cold, then unscrew by
holding the boiler with one hand and turning the coffee
container anticlockwise with the other (fig. 1).
2) Remove the funnel filter and, to make a full pot of cof-
fee, fill the boiler with cold water up to the top drop
(about 150 ml), without covering the safety valve (visible
inside the boiler) (Fig. 2).
If you want to make just half a pot, fill the boiler with
water up to the bottom drop
(fig. 2).
TIP: use cold soft water. Brackish or hard water will weaken the
flavour. The coffee should ideally be up to the level of the filter.
IMPORTANT:
do not use the coffee maker without water in
the boiler. Do not use hot water to speed up coffee making.
3) Insert the funnel filter in the boiler (fig. 3). To prepare half
a pot, insert the adapter disc (I) in the funnel filter (fig.
4).
4) Fill the funnel filter with ground coffee (about 20 g for a
full pot of coffee); do not press down (fig. 6). Fill a little at
a time to avoid the ground coffee overflowing.
5) Distribute the ground coffee uniformly and remove any
excess coffee from the edge of the filter. IMPORTANT: Use
good quality, medium-ground coffee for moka coffee
makers.
6) Tighten the coffee maker firmly but without exaggera-
ting, holding the boiler with one hand and turning the
coffee container clockwise with the other, without pu-
shing on the handle.
IMPORTANT: to avoid dangerous splashes of boiling wa-
ter, never use the coffee maker unless the disk filter (F) is
correctly in position.
7) Rest the coffee maker on the base (Fig. 6). Close the lid
(A).
8) When preparing a full pot of coffee, you can select the
coffee aroma by pressing the
button.
The Aroma function is effective when the quantities of wa-
ter and ground coffee indicated above are respected.
Manual start-up
• Press the ON/OFF button
. The light in the button
shows that the coffee maker is on.
• Coffee delivery begins after a few minutes.
• When all the coffee has been delivered, the word “END”
appears on the display accompanied by three beeps. The
ON/OFF light goes off (if the “keep warm” function is not
enabled). To remove the word “END”, press any button
and wait for a few minutes for the current time to be di-
splayed again.
Keep warm function
Once you have made the coffee, you can keep it warm for
about 30 minutes by simply leaving it on the base.
To enable/disable this function, press and hold the
P
button
for a few seconds until ON (enabled) or OFF (disabled) is di-
splayed.
When the function is enabled, after the coffee has been de-
livered, END is displayed and the light in the
button
remains on while the appliance is keeping the coffee warm.
To interrupt the function, press the
: button. The light
goes off and the current time is displayed.
If you remove the coffee maker from the base for about two
minutes, the keep warm function goes off automatically.
Remember that coffee loses its characteristic aroma when
warmed up.
