The Dell 2321DS switch comes with the field-proven Dell Remote Console Software (RCS), a cross-platform
management application that provides a single point of access for the entire system. This easy-to-use,
Java
TM
based software can be used locally or remotely over an IP connection. With RCS, administrators
can easily configure the switch system and select different servers. In addition, the switch includes the
On-Screen Configuration and Activity Reporting (OSCAR®) interface for analog control from the local
workstation.
The on-board web interface provides similar management functions as the RCS. The on-board web
interface is launched directly from the switch and any servers connected to the Dell 2321DS are
automatically detected. Administrators can launch the viewer from the on-board web interface to establish
KVM control and virtual media sessions on target devices.
The Dell 2321DS offers virtual media capabilities that allow viewing, moving, or copying of data located
on virtual media to and from any server that is connected to the switch. Virtual media can be connected
directly to the USB ports on the switch or the server hosting the on-board web interface browser session.
The server must be connected to a Dell 2321DS using a USB2 virtual media SIP to open a virtual media
session. Virtual media sessions are opened from the viewer, which can be accessed from the RCS or on-
board web interface.
The Dell 2321DS is rack-mountable into a 1U slot or the 0U space for easy integration into the data center.
It has 32 CAT 5/RJ-45 ports for connecting servers. Administrators can then access these servers remotely
across two 10/100/1000T Ethernet connections or directly through the switch’s analog port. Video quality
through the local port can be enhanced up to 1024 x 768 with an end-to-end cable length of up to 50 feet
(15 meters). Remote users can achieve video resolutions of up to 1024 x 768. Up to 256 servers can be
accessed from one 2321DS switch with the addition of Port Extension Modules (PEMs).
