Example
The following example sets MAC Authentication Bypass on interface
gigabitethernet 1/0/2:
console(config-if-Gi1/0/2)#dot1x port-control mac-based
console(config-if-Gi1/0/2)#dot1x mac-auth-bypass
dot1x max-req
Use the
dot1x max-req
command in Interface Configuration mode to set the
maximum number of times that the switch sends an Extensible
Authentication Protocol (EAP)-request frame (assuming that no response is
received) to the client before restarting the authentication process. To return
to the default setting, use the
no
form of this command.
Syntax
dot1x max-req
count
no dot1x max-req
• count — Number of times that the switch sends an EAP-request/identity
frame before restarting the authentication process. (Range: 1–10)
Default Configuration
The default value for the count parameter is 2.

User Guidelines
Change the default value of this command only to adjust for unusual
circumstances, such as unreliable links or specific behavioral problems with
certain clients and authentication servers.
Example
The following example sets the number of times that the switch sends an
EAP-request/identity frame to 6.

console(config-if-Gi1/0/16)# dot1x max-req
