DAS Energy 6x1M RJB Installation Manual Download Page 15

The installation method of direct bonding of DAS En-
ergy PV modules on a roofing membrane implies that
the cabling cannot be done behind the modules. Thus,
it is required to use cable trays in order to avoid direct
sun light exposure and water immersion.

The cable trays should be installed with a spacer (con-
crete slabs, protective mats or similar) between the
roof and the cable tray (see Fig. 10) and, if possible, in
water  flow  direction,  so  that  the  rainwater  can  drain

unhin dered and no pressure load occurs at the cable
trays due to rainwater or snow. Hereby a minimum
distance of 10 mm and/or the local requirements, re-
spectively, must be observed. In any case the installer
should ensure compliance with the appropriate stan-
dards. Local legislation and local applicable wind and
snow load tables must be observed, and appropriate
measures must be taken to ensure the resistance of
the cable trays against wind and snow load as well as
ice pressure.

The DAS Energy modules correspond to safety class II
in accordance with IEC 61140 “Protection against elec-
tric shock” and safety application class A in accordance
with IEC 61730 “Photovoltaic (PV) module safety qual-

ification”  and  do  not  require  any  grounding.  The  DAS
Energy photovoltaic modules exceed the normative
insulation requirements of 40 MΩ m² significantly and
do not have any conducting frame.

The DAS Energy modules correspond to safety class II and do not have any accessible conductive parts or frames
and do not need to be grounded.

The DAS Energy modules do not suffer from PID due
to the unique material composition; therefore, it is not
necessary to functionally ground the negative genera-
tor pole. Nevertheless, negative generator pole ground-
ing is possible with DAS Energy modules. In this case,

only use inverters which include licensed grounding kits
and follow the directions of the inverter manufacturer
(make sure that the difference of potential between the
nega tive generator connection and the PE(N) of every
MPP tracker of the respective inverter is zero volt).

The DAS Energy modules do not have any accessible
conductive parts or frames and hence cannot be incor-
porated into the possibly available lightning protection.
Nevertheless, it is necessary to observe the required
separation distances to a possibly available lightning
protection. We recommend to involve a corresponding

special consultant. Please also observe – possibly de-
pending on the lightning protection concept – the cur-
rent standards and directives for overvoltage protection
on the DC-side of the solar generator and inverter as
well as on the AC-side (grid connection) of the inverter.
