A lifejacket light is for use on all types of lifejackets.

 

The  DAN M4

-

A / W4

-

A  light can be supplied with fixing clips or a recessed housing. The clips is intend-

ed to be placed behind a strip of lifejacket material or reflective tape or clipped on to the tube of an in-
flatable lifejacket: the light is secured by pressing it into the clip.

 

The recessed housing is designed to be fitted into a cut out on a foam lifejacket.

 

An illustration showing a typical attachment methods is shown

 

It is the responsibility of the lifejacket manufacturer to ensure that the light is attached securely and is 
in the correct position on the lifejacket to provide maximum visibility when the wearer is in the water.

 

 

Installation

 

The DAN W4

-

A is switched on automatically when the sensor is immersed in water; no user action is 

required. The light can be switched on and off by operating the clearly marked switch on the top of the 
surface for at least 1 second. The DAN M4

-

A is operated by the manual switch only.

Manual operation requires the user to press and hold the  switch for at least 1 second : when turning 

the light on it will emit 2 flashes in quick succession  indicating it is going in to flash mode and that the 
switch now can be released. Turning the light off; press and hold the switch for 1 second  the light will 
emit a steady light when pressed. Now release the switch and the light will turn off.

A units are maintenance free, but the following cheks should be made annually:

 

1. Inspect the light  and its attachment for signs of damage or corrosion.

 

2. For DAN W4

-

A, a test probe (Daniamant Part No. 1990) can be used to test the water sensor switch.   

 

    Alternatively a paper clip may be applied to the two water contacts.

 

3. For DAN M4

-

A, test the light by operating the switch as described above 

The light must  

 

    flash.  Operate the switch again, and the light must stop flashing.

 

 

It is recommended that the light is activated for one minute.
