7.1.5 Shielding against Electrical Noise
F-frame Size Units Only
Before mounting the line power power cable, mount the
EMC metal cover to ensure best EMC performance.
NOTICE!
The EMC metal cover is only included in units with an
RFI filter.

7.1.6 External Fan Power Supply
Frame Sizes E and F
In case the adjustable frequency drive is supplied by DC or
if the fan must run independently of the line power
supply, an external power supply can be connected via the
power card.
The connector located on the power card provides the
connection of line voltage for the cooling fans. The fans
are connected at the factory to connect to a common AC
line. Use jumpers between terminals 100–102 and 101–
103. If an external supply is needed, the jumpers are
removed and the supply is connected to terminals 100 and
101. Use a 5 A fuse for protection. In UL applications, use a
LittelFuse KLK-5 or equivalent.

7.2 Fuses and Circuit Breakers
7.2.1 Fuses
It is recommended to use fuses and/or circuit breakers on
the supply side as protection in case of a component
breakdown inside the adjustable frequency drive.
NOTICE!
This is mandatory to ensure compliance with IEC 60364
for CE or NEC 2009 for UL.
WARNING
Personnel and property must be protected against the
consequence of internal component breakdown in the
adjustable frequency drive.
Branch Circuit Protection
In order to protect the installation against electrical and
fire hazard, all branch circuits in an installation, such as
those found in switch gear and machines, must be
protected against short-circuit and overcurrent according
to national/international regulations.
NOTICE!
These recommendations do not cover branch circuit
protection for UL.
Short Circuit Protection
Danfoss recommends using the fuses/circuit breakers
mentioned in
chapter 7.2.4 Power/Semiconductor Fuse Size
to protect service personnel and property in case of
component break-down in the adjustable frequency drive.
