Troubleshooting Guide
Problem
Possible Cause
Possible Fix
Kettle not boiling
On/Off Switch (6) is
not pressed down.
Press the On/Off Switch (6)
down.
Plug not inserted into
the mains socket
and/or not switched
on.
Ensure the mains plug is
plugged into the mains socket
and the socket is switched on.
Kettle not seated on
the base correctly.
Ensure the Kettle is seated
correctly on the Base (8).
Fuse blown in plug.
Check fuse by substitution.
Kettle switches off
before boiling
Not enough water in
the Kettle.
Ensure the Kettle is filled with
sufficient water and the water
level is above the
‘MIN’ mark
on the Water Gauge (7).
Kettle requires
descaling.
Follow ‘Descaling your Kettle’
above.
Kettle boils over
Kettle is overfilled.
Ensure that the Kettle is not
filled above the
‘MAX’ mark on
the Water Gauge (7).
Non-Rewireable Mains Plug
If your appliance is supplied with a non-rewireable plug fitted to the mains lead
and should the fuse needed replacing, you must use an ASTA approved one
(conforming to BS 1362 of the same rating). Never use a plug with the fuse cover
missing. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
If you need to remove the plug -
DISCONNECT FROM THE MAINS
- and then cut it
off the mains lead and immediately dispose of it safely. Never attempt to reuse
the plug or insert it into a socket outlet as there is a danger of electric shock.
