MANUAL DEFROST
Follow the procedure
in "Cooking and reheat-
ing with microwaves" and choose a power level of
160 W when defrosting manually.
Check and inspect the food regularly.
Expe
-
rience will give you the times needed for vari
-
ous amounts.
Turn large items
halfway through the de
-
frosting process.
Frozen food in plastic bags,
cling film or
cardboard packages can be placed directly in
the oven as long as the package has no
metal parts (e.g. metal twist ties).
The shape of the package
alters the
defrosting time. Shallow packets defrost
more quickly than a deep block.
Separate items
as they begin to defrost.
Individual slices defrost more easily.
Protect the thinnest parts
(e.g.
chicken thighs or wings) with
small pieces of foil once they
are heated through.
Boiled food, stews and meat sauc
-
es
defrost better if stirred during the de
-
frosting time.
When defrosting,
it is better to under-
thaw the food slightly and allow the pro
-
cess to finish during standing time.
Allowing the food to stand after heating
always improves
the result, as
the heat can then spread more
evenly throughout the
food.
