S SC150e HARDWARE REFERENCE

3.3 LED Status Indicators

3.3.1 Insert LED

The green Insert LED is ON when the node is inserted into the S SC150e

Network ring. A node is inserted when it is electrically placed on the network for the

purpose of transmitting and receiving messages. This LED is labeled “I” on the faceplate.

3.3.2 Carrier Detect LED

The green Carrier Detect LED is ON when there is a valid pair of transmit lights from the

previous S SC150e node into this node’s receiver pair. Assuming at least one

node is inserted in the ring, the ring integrity is NOT valid if the fiber-optic cables are

connected and the Carrier Detect LED is OFF. This condition indicated improper fiber-

optic cabling or problems with the down-line transmitter(s). This LED is labeled “C” on

the faceplate.

NOTE

: On a system power-up, a message from any node on the ring may be necessary

to establish the carrier.

3.4 Software

Contact Curtiss-Wright Controls for availability of S SC150e diagnostic

source code and software libraries.

3.5 Utility Software

3.5.1 SCRAMNet Diagnostics

The SCRAMNet Network Hardware Diagnostics are designed to test the functionality of

the hardware. This suite of tests automatically detects the type of card and adjusts the test

menus accordingly.

3.5.2 EEPROM Initialization (EPI)

The EEPROM Initialization program is a S SC150e utility used to simplify

configuration of the network node. The EPI program stores a start-up configuration in the

serial EEPROM that can initialize the node on power up. This initialization program can

be run when the card is installed to set the desired power-up state of the S

SC150e node. EPI is completely menu driven and contains a context-sensitive help

feature.

3.5.3 SCRAMNet Monitor

The SCRAMNet Monitor allows viewing and editing of memory and CSR locations on

the SCRAMNet node. This utility is useful during software development to verify that the

correct values are being written to SCRAMNet memory and CSRs.
