Chapter 3: Basic Connections and Wiring
2. Connect the wires to the EDGE Weather Station according to the following wiring diagram table.
NOTE: Refer to the wiring diagrams for more information about the wiring and the assembly of the
rain sensor.

Grounding
The EDGE Weather Station only needs a functional Earth. The outside sensors support must be
grounded to the building or to the metal pole by using a protective Earth.
The functional Earth connector is located at J3 in the EDGE Weather Station.
IMPORTANT: If metal rigid tubes are used, ensure the rigid tubes are correctly grounded.
IMPORTANT: For the Earth terminal block on the EDGE Weather Station, use a tightening torque at
0.8N*m (7lbf*in) to fasten a wire.
Wiring Diagrams
AP/Cumberland can provide sourced color-coded communication wire to install EDGE controls. The wire
will be available in both 16 and 18 gauge to accommodate the specified distance between controls (as
shown above). The communication wire is available in one or two twisted shielded pairs, and with two dif-
ferent outside jacket colors (red and black.) Black-jacketed wire is to be used for the automation circuit
and red-jacketed wire is to be used for the safety circuit. Each of the communication wires is comprised of
two or four unique colored wires to further reduce installation errors.
