TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM

coffeemaker is
Continuously
beeping
The Hopper is not locked
in place (when brewing
with whole beans)
• Check to see if the hopper container release knob is in the unlocked position
• Place the hopper container on the unit
• Turn the knob to the locked position
• Press On/Off to resume; if programming, reset
Filter door is not closed
• Check to be sure that all components of the filter compartment are in place
• Close filter door (you will hear a click if the door is properly shut)
• Press On/Off twice to resume; if programming, reset
Filter basket is not in
place
• Open filter door by pressing the filter door release button
• Hook filter basket with cover onto door
• Close filter door (you will hear a click if the door is properly shut)
• Press On/Off twice to resume; if programming, reset
Filter basket cover is
not in place
• Open filter door by pressing the filter door release button
• Put on cover matching the “grind” arrows
• Hook filter basket with cover onto door
• Close filter door (you will hear a click if the door is properly shut)
• Press On/Off twice to resume; if programming, reset
Filter basket is not
emptied of used grinds
• Open filter door by pressing the filter door release button
• Remove filter basket with cover
• Discard used grounds
• Replace filter basket with cover and close door
• Press On/Off twice to resume; if programming, reset
Coffee is
weaker than
usual
Coffee chute is clogged
• Remove the hopper from the unit
• Lift coffee channel cover
• Clean out coffee chute
• Replace channel cover and hopper
• Your coffeemaker is now ready to brew again
There are not enough
beans in the hopper
• Be sure there are enough beans in your hopper for the amount of coffee you
intend to brew
Strength setting
is incorrect
• Check your strength setting — displayed on the LCD screen
• To change your strength settings press the strength control button
The
coffeemaker
is not grind-
ing beans
Ground coffee may be
packed too tightly in the
coffee chute
• Remove hopper from the unit
• Lift coffee channel cover
• Clean out coffee chute
• Replace channel cover and hopper
The hopper may be
too full
• Remove some of the beans from the hopper
CLEAN
BASKET
appears in
LCD Display
Coffee grounds and filter
from previous use are
still in filter basket
• Remove filter and used coffee grounds.
• Add new filter.
NOTE: Filter basket door must be open for at least 5 seconds to turn off CLEAN
BASKET message.
CLEAN
CHUTE

The message appears
as a reminder to clean
the chute
• Follow directions for cleaning the chute on page 12.
NOTE: Your coffeemaker will still operate if the chute is not cleaned when mes-
sage appears, but we recommend cleaning it regularly. Failing to do so may
affect the flow, and could result in weaker coffee flavor. In extreme cases the
chute may become blocked; if severe enough this could damage the unit.
